7 Website Design Tips for Integrative Practitioners

We focused on successfully taking your practice online in the last two blog posts. One key aspect we touched upon is creating your online presence and, usually, the fulcrum of your online presence is a website. Creating a website that provides insight into your practice, specialty, and experience helps build trust among potential clients and serves as a critical reference for your existing clients.

Creating your website may seem confusing at first, but website builders focused on healthcare providers make this task easier. Before you get started, here are a few tips that will ensure your website is well-designed:

1. Make sure your Website is Responsive, i.e., Mobile-friendly

According to the latest data, mobile phones account for approximately half of the web traffic online. This statistic isn’t surprising since most of us use our mobiles to access the internet. What you need to know is that not all website designs are mobile-friendly. When a website design isn’t responsive, it may appear different on mobile phones than on your desktop, and the functionality may either be incomplete or not work as intended. Make sure you test what your website looks like on a mobile device before going live!

2. Focus on Content

The content on your website establishes your reputation and practice to clients; it plays two roles –

a. Makes your website more searchable so new and existing clients can find you,

b. helps clients learn about your practice (your approach, the treatments you offer, where you are located, and how to contact you).

Good quality content improves your website’s search engine optimization (SEO), ranking it higher on search engines like Google. Unfortunately, many people put out content without proper review and vetting. Not only does this detract from the professionalism of their websites, but it can confuse or drive away clients.

With quality, targeted content, you can save money too – your website could appear on page 1 of Google for organic prospective client searches without an expensive advertising budget.

3. Create Specialty Pages

Your website needs certain standard pages, including – Home, About, and Contact (Us). However, specialty pages are unique to healthcare practice. There is a difference between saying that you are an acupuncturist and that you are an acupuncturist specializing in treating specific problems. This kind of focused information increases the chances of getting a new appointment.

Feel free to describe your specialty in detail and connect the pages to a call-to-action, like a contact form encouraging questions.

4. Use the Right Pictures and Videos

Imagery that depicts you and your practice brand is essential to connect better with potential clients. You can use a combination of stock pictures and existing pictures from your practice. We highly recommend using high-quality photos of practitioners, care providers, and the clinic to create a sense of familiarity with clients. When you share your pictures, you seem friendly and approachable, encouraging people to book their first appointment.

5. Check for Speed

While good quality photographs are of utmost importance, they may also severely compromise the speed of your website. Most people expect a website to load in less than 2 seconds and do not have the patience for longer wait times. While designing your website, ensure you check your website’s load time across devices and browsers using free tools available on the internet.

6. Establish your Reputation

When you create your business website, you run the risk of appearing like a new practice. To avoid that, source past client reviews and incorporate them into your website. If you already have Google, Facebook, or Yelp reviews, you could also embed those reviews directly on your website.

We also recommend incorporating an FAQ page on the website to post information related to your experience and expertise.

7. Connect to Appointment Booking

The primary purpose of your website is to ensure you can increase your client base. Make sure to connect your website to an online appointment booking system to ensure that new clients don’t drop off without an initial appointment.
